The purpose of Oscoda Citizens for Clean water is to educate the public about, and raise awareness of, per-and poly-fluoroalkyl substances ("PFAS") and/or other contamination and to provide assistance to individuals and/or groups actually or potentially affected by PFAS and /or other contaminants.

The mission of Need Our Water, the local Oscoda advocacy group affiliated with Oscoda Citizens for Clean water is: We are a community action group organized to give Oscoda-AuSable and surrounding communities a voice. Our mission is to be a reliable resource and catalyst for education and communication while advocating for long-term health and environmental welfare plans on behalf of those affected by the water contamination from the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan.

Our festival is not just about fun and entertainment; it's about raising awareness and acting against Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in the Great Lakes. We are thrilled to announce that we will be making an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as MerPeople at Oscoda Beach Park (Friday August 1st). This record-breaking event will draw attention to the critical issue of PFAS contamination and help us take a significant step toward a cleaner and healthier environment.
